The book, “Magdalena Gornik”

In-depth research into the life of Magdalena Gornik began in 1996, when Mr. France Baraga published the first article on the 100th anniversary of her death. At that time, Mr. Baraga, who worked at the Archdiocesan archives in Ljubljana, discovered an archival fond of documents that had been forgotten for a long time. With the help of Mr. Baraga, Martina Kraljič continued that research, collecting and arranging the documentation into a biography, which also included a theological exploration of mystical phenomena. In 2004, under the mentorship of Monsignor Dr. Marjan Turnšek, the collected results were presented in her bachelor’s degree paper at the Theology Faculty in Ljubljana.

The book “Magdalena Gornik”, arising from the above-mentioned bachelor’s degree paper, is the fruit of many years of research of documents relevant to Magdalena. The book is based on facts – each assertion in the book is documented. It provides the most complete overview to date of the life of Magdalena. In addition to a biography with historically attested mystical phenomena theologically explained, it includes a collection of Magdalena’s thoughts as also testimonies of prayers answered from her intercession.
